RAR Command line
The RAR Command Line is the tool that provides a number of far more comprehensive and selective options, including many useful Windows specific options which are not available with the WinRAR graphical user interface(GUI).
It may take some time to become familiar with the command mode but it is definitely worth it for repetitive, automated or more complex functions which can be used manually from Windows Command line interface, or when using BAT or CMD files.
Full details on the Commands and Switches are found by opening RAR.txt with Windows Notepad from your \Program files\WinRAR folder.
For first time use, read the Introduction and then skip down the 3 underlined sections to 'RAR command line syntax', as that covers the use and description of all the commands, along with useful examples being provided for each Command and Switch.
Don't forget to go back and read the 3 skipped sections as they are required reading for you to progress when using the RAR Command line tool.
To run Command line RAR, go to the Windows Search Window (second from the left on your Task Bar), enter 'Cmd' and click on Command Prompt. This will open a black window with white txt. Type in 'cd\Program files\WinRAR' and press the Enter key to change to your \Program files\WinRAR folder where you can now experiment using the examples from RAR.txt.
